My first major, mostly digital submission - the lineart is the only thing I did by hand here. I'm quite proud of myself, actually. And now that I'm done this, I think I'm going to hide the tablet at the bottom of the drawer for a month.

From a story I've been writing lately, on and off as I get the right dreams to inspire it. These both started out as characters in my dreams. The girl doesn't have a name, she just gets called "little bird" or some variation thereof. She's sworn fealty to the Feathered Lord, one of the Nine Lords of Descent. (Why do lords always come in nines?) In a dystopian future, the Lords of Descent are the ones who protect the poor, the lowly, the homeless, the hopeless... anyone who's ever slipped between the cracks. In theory they look out for everyone in the underworld, but if you're willing to pledge your service to one he'll take a bit more of a direct interest in your case.

All this goes to show is that you shouldn't read Harlan Ellison short stories and Neverwhere in the same evening just before going to bed.
