So, just saw Alice in Wonderland, and while I enjoyed it, me being me I had a couple of major complaints. (Mild spoilers ahead.)

-If EVERYBODY hated the Red Queen so much, even her army and right-hand enforcer (seriously, whut, lady) how the heck was this woman still in power? It's like they were all just playing a game and everyone simultaneously decided to do something else at some kind of hidden signal. Which, y'know, could work, if Wonderland hadn't actually had a certain amount of reason and order instilled into it, which I admired at the time. A little consistency in the inconsistency is all I ask for.
-I loved the Alice at the beginning, the wispy, mildly aloof and amused Alice that you got the sense she wasn't entirely there, the one that was enjoying herself. But as soon as she got into Wonderland, she immediately dropped all that and became almost boringly normal, obsessed alternately with getting away from this weirdness as soon as possible and proving to these people (who she was convinced didn't exist, seriously, whut) that she was a strong, tough, tomboy who was capable of doing something she didn't even want to do. The one we saw at the beginning would have been much more fitting to the weirdness, and more fun to watch.
-SOMEONE COME UP WITH AN ORIGINAL ENDING BESIDES "SHE CHOOSES TO GO HOME FOR A COMPLETELY ARBITRARY REASON, THAT'S JUST HOW IT IS, OKAY" ARRRGH SERIOUSLY (<----totally not a pet peeve fr srs)

Ehh, don't mind the copious amounts of bile, it was still a really enjoyable movie, and I would recommend it, I was just a little disappointed by how standard and average it felt when we were promised and given every reason to expect something much more original. The curse of the eternal optimist, I guess.

So, as of today, I'm officially a twenty-something rather than a teenager. Woohoo.

Apologies for the sudden onslaught of submissions. The way things are working out, the only real practical way for me to upload stuff is to head upstairs and post it from the computer with a scanner hooked up to it. I`m a bit lazy to traipse up the stairs with my books every time I draw something, so I kind of let it slide for a while... I`ll try and keep on top of it in the future so this won`t happen again.

...Just another night, actually, given that the new year was about a week ago. Song lyrics as titles tend to break down like that if you look at them too closely.

ANYWAY.

So, it's a new decade; the second time I've seen one change over. I... can't say I'm terribly unhappy to see the last one go, to be honest. The Noughties were a decade of highs and lows; I made some of the best friends I've ever had, and I guess they're where I really learned to define myself the way I do today. However, the last few years were also filled with some of the worst depression I've ever experienced, a time I'd rather not look back on. So, general consensus, I guess I'll take the good and move on. It's a new decade, and a fresh start. I can't tell you how excited that makes me.

Resolutions... I guess I'm going to start by trying to be more motivated, starting with looking into enrolling at the Alberta College of Art and Design in the fall. First, though, I need to make sense of the obfuscatory requirements on the website and determine exactly what they want in a portfolio. Also, descriptions of the programs that aren't just throwing pretentious language at a page at random would be helpful. Anyway, I'm going to start by taking some art courses at Wildflower this winter - I'm enrolled in a life drawing class and something called Arts Combo, which, from what I can gather, consists of a session where you get access to painting, drawing, ceramics and printmaking supplies and just do whatever you feel like, which sounds awesome.

In other news, my birthday's coming up on the 26th. I'll officially be out of the 'teens. Am thinking about celebrating by having a fancy dress tea party, but probably won't because I doubt I could get anyone to attend.
