Charmlock

One of my entries for Seventh Sanctum's Evil and Company contest. I used the Evil Name Generator and got Charmlock, and the Monster Name Generator gave me the Sleeper-binder.

Guiler Charmlock is a suave and sophisticated demon lord who uses variations on classic scams and cons to steal mortal souls. He'll approach a likely mark and challenge him or her to a game, which of course Charmlock, being the original con man, will always win. As the mark becomes more and more desperate, Charmlock will raise the stakes higher and higher, eventually challenging the player for things beyond money - the mark's soul being the final prize. Of course he's never lost, but for him the enjoyment isn't in the game itself, it's in watching the increasing desperation and despair of his victims. He's sometimes scoffed at by his colleagues for his flamboyant and unconventional methods, but he's used the same method successfully since the eighteenth century and he's not about to change it now. The real beauty of it, according to Charmlock, is that he doesn't even have to force mortals to part with their souls - they practically fall all over themselves to give their souls away.
Once a human being has sold his soul to Charmlock, Charmlock imprisons it in a playing card, binding the luckless individual to him forever. The soulless shell becomes known as a Sleeper-Binder - a subhuman, zombie-like husk that mindlessly obeys Charmlock's every command. They are called by that name because they help Charmlock with his devilish deeds, thereby binding others to their own fate.
He's shown here with his latest prize - the daughter of a wealthy lord. He played with her over a period of several months, draining her of her inheritance and everything she owned until she finally fell into his snare for good.
