Chaologist

I've mentioned my science-fantasy space-opera setting a couple times now. The basic premise is that in the future, through a complicated sequence of events involving humans being incredibly cocky and Martians being dicks, physics has become badly broken. Space and time is shattered into a million pieces; science has come to a crawling halt, because it didn't take long for people to discover that thinking about things too hard tends to cause them to stop working, usually quite violently. Basically, the universe runs on a new set of rules, and they work they way you think they do at any given moment. This is not as cool as it sounds, because you have to be really specific about the rules if you want to change them significantly from what they used to be, and it's tricky to get something that works without contradicting itself or having nasty unforeseen consequences. Most people just don't think about the rules and usually muddle along just fine; others use sets that are thought up by chaologists - those who study the chaos of the new world and make it into new orders. Because they know what they're doing, chaologists can get up to all sorts of interesting dickery with physics...
