Alvara Alvey

Thank goodness, they've finally gotten rid of that ridiculous extra "c" in "Sword & Sorcery."

So, uh, yeah. This was a concept I was toying with a while back. Don't think I'll be using it, though, so I guess she's effectively up for adoption.

The idea was that Alvara was a changeling, left by her elvish parents in exchange for a human baby. Most changelings die, whether through some weakness or illness or by their adoptive parents' hands, but Alvara was strong. Through her foster mother's determination and sympathy, she was nursed back to health and, when she reached adulthood, told the truth by her foster father. As she listened to the story of her abandonment, curiosity began stirring in her heart. Who were her real parents, she wondered? Why had they given her away in exchange for a human child?

The more she wondered, the more rage grew in Alvara's heart. Didn't her real parents love her? Wasn't she as good as, or better than, any human weakling? Eventually, she became so consumed with rage that she vowed to take revenge, not only on her blood parents, but the entire elvish race who condoned this heartless practice. Thus, she said goodbye to her adoptive parents and set out into the world, bent on slaughtering any and every elf who she encountered - be it either a cruel adult, or even a small child which had had the life Alvara had been denied.

Yeah, you can see why I didn't really want to use the concept. By the way, "Alvara Alvey" is just a placeholder name because I couldn't come up with anything else - it means "elf elf."
